Love Your NHS was created after an NHS campaign collaboration between @TheGateFilms & @OneMinuteBriefs reached well over half a million people on Twitter and Facebook in it’s first week. A social media competition asked people to send in their film ideas to show what the NHS means to them in uncertain times. The winning idea was created by @StephenHunter21 and features an emotive concept based on traditional wedding vows.
After seeing the impact of the campaign, the @NHS4XmasNo1 team got in touch with us about turning the ‘vows’ concept into their official music video for “A Bridge over You” featuring smash hits by Coldplay and Simon and Garfunkel. We were happy to join forces and #LoveYourNHS was created to support the campaign.
As part of the ‘vows’ theme, we asked NHS staff and the general public to send pictures of themselves holding up a sign saying ‘I DO’ for #LoveYourNHS. We received a huge amount of entries, with the likes of Michael Sheen, Jessie Ware, Luke Shaw, Sadie Frost, Angus Deayton, Holly Willoughby, Philip Schofield and Chris Evans getting involved.
As the social campaign gathered momentum and we began to really push the campaign after the 18th December, the press started to get involved as we appeared on TV, radio and in newspapers/articles across the UK. Our music video, which now has a million views, was shared across the internet and encouraged people to download. At the same time, we created this very website to give us a platform for all the fantastic content we had received.
We were then neck and neck with Justin Bieber all week in the race for the Number 1 spot and Bieber himself even tweeted in an amazing show of support. This led to coverage across the world and huge awareness raised for the campaign, which, in turn, led to more downloads/more money raised for Mind Charity & Carers UK.
And, at lunchtime Christmas Day, we were announced as the Official Charts Christmas Number 1. An unbelievable end to an amazing campaign. Thank you to everyone who showed you #LoveYourNHS.
